Six Eyes

Satoru saw the bracelets sitting innocently on a plush velvet pillow in the window display of a jewelry boutique. They were lighted just right, showcasing how much the encrusted jewels sparkled against the artificial light. After completing a special mission in New York City, he had some downtime before heading back to Japan, back to his Suguru, and wanted to bring him, and their lovely children, souvenirs.

He already purchased obnoxiously touristy t-shirts for the kids with ‘I ♡ NY’ on the front and two large cheesecakes from Junior’s – one for him and one for the kids, but that wouldn’t do for his wife. Suguru deserved the world, and Satoru was only a mere man and had to do the best with what he had. He knew Suguru wouldn’t care about such trinkets and only desired his safety when he returned from missions, and that’s exactly why he needed to get him something!

He saw the bracelets by chance and had to do a doubletake to make sure his Six Eyes weren’t deceiving him. He lifted his blindfold a little to take an even better look and couldn’t help the manic grin stretching across his face. He pulled down his blindfold and stepped into the shop. He beelined it to an unoccupied attendant, ignoring the looks from the other patrons and shop attendants.

“Uh, good evening, sir,” the woman said slowly, looking at the other attendants. She shifted her arm slowly, resting her finger against the security button underneath her station. “How can I help you?”

“Those bracelets,” Satoru started, nearly bouncing with excitement, “the ones with the eyes, can I see them?”

The woman nodded slowly, still eyeing the other attendants. She pulled out her keyring and walked to where the bracelets were displayed. She put on white gloves and pulled out a velvet tray. She gently placed the bracelets on it before walking back to Satoru.

Satoru set his shopping bags onto the glossy glass counter and picked up one of the bracelets up, examining it quietly in his hand. Each individual eye was a round, bright blue topaz, with a small circle of white diamonds surrounding a black diamond in the middle. The eyes were connected by small gold circles with white diamonds in the middle, and the bracelet had a lobster clasp.

“Sir, could you please – ” woman started, eyeing the bags on the counter.

“There’s only five.” Satoru tsked in disappointment.

“I beg your pardon, sir.” The woman asked.

“There’s only five eyes.” He picked up the bangle and saw that it too only had five eyes.

“Yes, sir. The bracelets are a part of our Against Evil Eye collection. The designer chose to include five eyes in the bracelet because the number 5 is also associated with warding off against the evil eye.”

Satoru could care less about why there were five. He wanted there to be six for reasons, and sure, he could be playing into his own ego by wanting there to be six, but the thought of Suguru wearing it makes him feral.

“Does the designer do custom orders?” Satoru asked, putting down each bracelet and peeling down his blindfold to look at her expectantly, knowing the affect his eyes have.

“Uhhhh,” the woman shook her head. “Y-yes, he does custom orders.”

“Good! I want this and this,” he pointed to the pavé bracelet and bangle, “But, I want them with six eyes, not five.”

“Sir,” the woman shuffled nervously, “I don’t know how he’ll feel about that. He’s very proud of this collection. A lot of it was inspired by his culture and –“

“He’ll get over it.” Satoru interrupted with a quick shrug. “I can pay whatever price he wants.”

The woman was about to say something back but quickly stopped herself and pursed her lips instead.

“Hey,” Satoru asked eagerly, holding up the pavé bracelet, “do you think I can get a choker made of this same design, too? But with six eyes, not five!”

“If you’re willing to pay the price, sir.” The woman said tightly.

“Great!”

“The designer likes to have one-to-one meeting with custom clients to discuss measurements and design. I can pencil you in the next time he’s available, sir. If I can have your name and contact information – ”

“That won’t be necessary.” Satoru waved her off. “I already know the measurements, and the design should be exactly the same. Nothing different other than adding one more eye. Well,” Satoru hummed thoughtfully, “make the eyes on the choker a little bigger.”

“Okay, sir, how much bigger?”

“Just a smidge!” He held up his thumb and forefinger together. “Just kidding,” Satoru laughed, “hand me a pen and paper, and I’ll write everything down.”

Satoru does so with a flourish. He knows everything about Suguru, so he wrote his wrist and neck size with confidence. He listened to his Six Eyes when it came to deciding on the size of the eyes of the choker before writing that down too.

“Do you have specific metal in mind, sir? We offer gold, rose gold, or white gold.”

“Gold. 18K.” Satoru said in almost an afterthought. Gold looked lovely on Suguru’s skin. The woman wrote down Satoru’s request and then pulled out a calculator.

“Would you like me to calculate an estimate of the price for you, sir?”

“Nah!” Satoru waved her away and pulled out his wallet, sliding out his Black card from the buttery leather and handed it to the woman. “Just put it on this. I’ll authorize any additional charges.”

The woman’s eyes bugged out at the sight of his card but took it nonetheless. She inserted the chip in the card reader, and Satoru entered his pin: 030290.

She ripped off the receipt and handed it to him. “Here you go, sir. The designer will let you know when it’s ready. It should take roughly between two to eight-weeks. We don’t have a return policy on custom orders.”

“Perfect!” Satoru put his blindfold back on, smiled, and then left with his bags with a skip in his step.

Eight Weeks Later

Satoru and Suguru were seated in their living room, enjoying a peaceful evening to themselves. The kids had gone out to see a movie and wouldn’t return until late at night, but before 9pm because they had a bedtime! Suguru was seated on the couch reading a book while combing his hand through Satoru’s hair. Satoru was thumbing through a magazine with his head resting on Suguru’s plush thighs. He would love to be suffocated between Suguru’s thigh if he'd just let him.

He felt his phone vibrate on top of his stomach and set down his magazine to reach for it. He pressed the notification and saw an email from the jeweler, letting him know that his orders were ready. He frowned in confusion before a lightbulb clicked in his head, and he sat up quickly and leapt off the couch and practically ran to their bedroom.

“Satoru, what’s wrong?” Suguru called back, not looking up from his book, used to Satoru’s antics.

Satoru quickly tugged on a jacket and grabbed a pair of sunglasses he left on Suguru’s vanity earlier that week. He ran to the entryway of the door and tugged on his boots. “I’ll be right back! I need to go pick up some milk!” Satoru yelled back, clasping his hands together before warping away as fast as could to avoid suspicion.

He warped a street away from the jewelry and hustled his way over there. He went inside and saw the woman that helped him the last time motioned him forward.

“Good afternoon, Mr. Gojo,” the woman said politely, “I have your order here. We can look them over together to see if they’re to your liking or if adjustments need to be made.”

Satoru nodded excitedly, buzzing with emotion to look at the final products.

“Here we have the bracelets,” the woman said. She lifted the lids for each bracelet with a gloved hand. The bracelets shimmered underneath the fluorescent lighting of the store. It wasn’t as staged as the display case, but the jewels of the bracelets still shimmered. He nodded with satisfaction when he noted that the bracelet had six eyes; he picked up the bangle and was pleased to see it also had six eyes. She smiled and then closed the lids and set the boxes to the side. “And here’s the choker.” She pulled out a larger box, and Satoru gasped. It looked similar to the bracelet, but the eyes were larger.

“Perfect,” Satoru whispered in awe. He could just imagine it around Suguru’s beautiful neck, marking him, claiming him as the Six Eyes’ wife.

“Would you like me to pack it for you, sir?” Satoru nodded. The woman smiled, pleased with his speechlessness.

“If you don’t mind me asking, sir, who is this for?” The woman asked, packing the boxes in a matte black bag with jeweler’s name embossed in the front.

“They’re for my wife.” Satoru said without a second thought. The woman nodded and placed the bag on the counter. He grabbed the bag and walked to the door. “Thank you,” Satoru said sincerely, sunglasses slipping down to give the woman one of his more genuine smiles. His best smile was reserved for Suguru only.

Satoru warped just outside of their home and walked in with huge smile. “I’m back, Suguru!”

“Welcome home, Satoru.” Suguru said in the kitchen. Satoru could smell the spices of the curry Suguru was preparing for dinner. He toed off his boots and walked to the kitchen, slipping his sunglasses on the marble countertop.

“Did you bring the milk?” Suguru asked, not looking up from the curry he was stirring.

“What?”

“You said you needed to get milk.” Suguru looked up and smiled softly. His eyes narrowed in on the small, matte, black bag Satoru was hold. “Whatcha’ have there?”

“A gift for you, my love!” Satoru nearly sang.

“But not the milk?” Suguru teased impishly, turning off the stove.

“Forget the milk and come here.” Satoru beckoned Suguru forward. He pulled out the bracelets first, handing them to Suguru who took them. He set one on the counter and opened the other and gasped; Satoru grinned at the surprised look on his beloved’s face.

“Oh, Satoru, it’s beautiful.” Suguru whispered and pulled lifted up the pavé bracelet, examining the eyes. Satoru slipped it from his hands and clasped on his wrist. Suguru lifted his arm up in the kitchen light, turning to see how the jewels sparkled.

“And, this one.”

Suguru opened it and smiled at the sight of the bangle, also with six eyes. He picked it up and gave it to Satoru to put it on his wrist. Satoru clicked in place, and Suguru wiggled his arm, enjoying the clink of the bracelets hitting each other.

“There’s one more.” Satoru said. Suguru lifted his hand for the box, but Satoru shook his head. “I want to put this one on you.” Suguru raised an eyebrow but made no further comment. They walked to the bedroom, and Suguru sat at his vanity.

“Close your eyes.” Satoru said, and Suguru huffed a laugh but did as he was told. He pulled out the choker and gently pushed away Suguru’s hair to clasp it behind his neck, hugging it just right. Suguru’s breathe hitched at the feel of cold metal against his skin, and Satoru kissed his cheek. “You can open them.”

“Satoru,” Suguru gasped, turning his neck to the side to look at the eyes adorning his neck. He reached up to graze them with his finger, bracelets clinking as he moves his arm.

“What do you think?” Satoru wrapped his arm around Suguru’s shoulder and kissed his temple.

“They’re gorgeous, and you know it.” Suguru said with a blush high on the apples of his cheek.

“They don’t compare to you.” Satoru smirks.

“Sweet talker,” Suguru laughed. His hair in a low ponytail and light green apron smudged with stains from previous homecooked meals. Suguru’s truly a vision of beauty, lovely in every way.

“You should wear this the next time we’re at the estate.” Satoru hummed, kissing the top of Suguru’s head. “Or a clan head meeting, give the old farts something to talk about.”

“Oh, I’m sure we’ll be the talk of the town.”

“We can make it an heirloom for the future Six Eyes spouses.”

“If you say so,” Suguru said noncommittedly, twisting his neck to make jewels of his choker gleam under the light.

“I should get you earrings like this.”

Suguru snorted and shook his head. “No, these are enough.” He turned his head to the side and kissed the corner of Satoru’s mouth. “Thank you, Satoru.”

Satoru kissed him back instead of responding. Later he’ll infuse the bracelets and choker with protective charms, but for now, he’s content.
