Making low carb simple
Instructions
In a bowl, combine ground beef, egg, cream, minced onion, and the spices. Use wet hands to form the flat patties.
Fry the patties in butter for 3-4 minutes on each side. Put the patties in an oven-proof dish and keep baking in the oven at 200°F (100°C) while you prepare the rest.
Whisk the cooking juices with some water and set aside for the gravy.
Slice the onions really thin with a sharp knife or mandolin. Fry in butter until soft and golden. Set aside.
In a saucepan, bring the cream, cooking juices, and the rest of the ingredients for the sauce to a boil. Simmer over medium heat for 5-10 minutes or until the sauce has the desired consistency. Stir in the onions. Season with salt and pepper.
Rinse and cut the broccoli into smaller florets. Boil for a few minutes in lightly salted water, until crisp-tender. Drain and allow to steam for a few minutes.
Serve the beef patties and the onion gravy with the freshly boiled broccoli.

Why is there a whipping cream in the patty?
It helps keep them tender and juicy.

Where do all the carbs come from? I’m new to keto and I’m trying to figure out how to read recipes and figure net carbs.

Cream, soy sauce and the vegetables all have carbs.

Only as long as it takes to finish preparing the rest of the recipe; it's just to keep them warm.

We had this tonight it was delicious, I'll add oregano or mixed herbs to the patties as they needed slightly more flavour but it was very tasty!

Are you basically making 8 patties - 2 patties per person, as one serving? Thx!

This recipe as written makes 4 servings. You can make 4 patties and 1 is a serving or 8 patties and 2 is a serving, which ever you prefer.

The idea of a juicy burger and onion gravy signs good, but waaaaaaay too rich for me. And almost sweet flavored. Too much butter and cream. If I made it again, I'd cut both butter and cream down, grill the burgers lightly (rather than fry), and add beef broth with less cream for the sauce. More teriyaki to kick it up more.
