Just got our CRD back from the dealer where we had some water leak issues fixed. Noticed they also did a Recall while it was in there. It says...

RECALL F21
Tech Reprogrammed BCM

Any ideas why the body computer get reprogrammed?

The dealer called me to bring mine in for this one. It had to do with a the BCM drawing from the battery even when the vehicle was off, resulting in a dead battery - over time.

Mine is in the shop as we speak. 60 miles on a new CRD and a dead battery. I had to jump it every morning on the holiday weekend. Sad thing is I picked up the jeep after the recall was issued!

This is SO weird. Why on the '06, and not on the '05??? Some programmer got too happy with the software code and messed something up for the new year I guess.

My CRD came off the assembly line 4/18/06. There is one "update" sticker on the little aluminum module box under the hood and the numbers don't seem to match any here. I have not heard from the dealer. Are there any production dates given for this recall? Guess I'll carry my jumper cables, huh?

That one is probably the TCM/PCM flash. Mine has that. This new BCM flash is different.

I called the dealer today, gave them my VIN and mileage and the service person looked on the computer and said there were no recalls for my VIN at this time. Why am I not assured by that statement? LOST JEEPS • View topic (33)

There has been at least one post here of a CRD owner that indicated his was dead when he went to pick it up new. Mine was too. The dealer said someone probably left the lights on when they drove it out to the lot. Of course the lights turn off on their own don't they. LOST JEEPS • View topic (40)

Go to the Owner site on jeep.com and punch in the last 8 of your VIN. It'll say if you are due any recalls. Mine shows the new Body Module recall.

Mine (I assume) had to be jumped by two dealers, dealer one that had the truck and the second dealer where I picked it up at. I was pissed because they should have caught this recall before they sent the jeep out! I will give credit to the dealership as they came to get the jeep (hour away) and gave me a rental for two days and a full tank of fuel.

Dealer fixed dead battery issue with the recall on the BCM. Sunday dead battery again, Monday rental from the dealer and Tuesday a new battery. Jeep is back and I hope all is well, we will see this weekend when it sits.
