A new month means new movies! Below, we’ve picked out our favorite and/or most anticipated movies set to release throughout the month of June 2024.

As with all our movie rundowns, we’ll split this article into two halves. First, we’ll cover the Netflix Original titles coming to the service globally. Second, we’ll focus on some of the licensed titles that are specifically making their way onto Netflix in the United States. These titles may also come to Netflix in other territories or already be streaming, but it’s not guaranteed.

For the expanded and most complete list of what’s coming up on Netflix throughout June 2024, keep it locked here on What’s on Netflix.

Most Anticipated Upcoming Netflix Original Movies in June 2024

Ultraman: Rising

Netflix’s big new animated title for the month is undoubtedly Ultraman: Rising which comes from the director of Lost Ollie and Kubo the Two Strings, two absolute masterpieces.

Based on the Japanese IP in partnership with Tsuburaya Productions, and Industrial Light & Magic, the story sees Ken Sato, a baseball star and superhero, returning home to adopt a troublesome fire-breathing kaiju.

The movie looks like a must-watch for fans of the property and accessible enough for those who have never interacted with the IP in their lives with plenty of humor and stunning visuals throughout.

Hit Man (2024) Netflix Original

Coming to Netflix: June 7th

At one point, Richard Linklater seemed like he’d never work with Netflix again following his first project, the 2022 animated hybrid movie Apollo 10½: A Space Age Childhood. That all changed late last year when Netflix surprisingly announced it had picked up the new Glen Powell action comedy showcased at the Toronto Film Festival.

Hot off recent roles in Anyone But You and Top Gun: Maverick (soon to be also joined by Twisters), Powell plays the role of Gary Johnson, a professor who doubles as a hitman. Despite his usual cautious nature, he finds a new job that has him in over his head.

A Family Affair (2024)

Coming to Netflix: June 28th

Netflix’s summer of love continues with A Family Affair, easily one of Netflix’s most ambitious rom-coms to date, with a topline cast that includes Joey King, Zac Efron, Nicole Kidman, and Kathy Bates.

Here’s the logline released for the movie:

“A surprising romance kicks off comic consequences for a young woman, her mother and her movie star boss as they face the complications of love, sex, and identity.”

As of this post, we haven’t received an official trailer for the new flick, but based on what we’ve heard and the pictures released thus far, it could be a big crowd-pleaser.

How to Rob a Bank (2024) Netflix Original

Coming to Netflix: June 5th

Rounding out with a new documentary coming up, we’ve got How to Rob A Bank. Coming from directors Stephen Robert Morse and Seth Porges, this twisty documentary that clocks in at just under 90 minutes will walk you through the true story of Scott Scurlock, a charismatic rebel in 1990s Seattle who manages to pull off a myriad of bank robberies straight out of Hollywood itself.

Through reenactment and interviews, we suspect this unexpected tale may be a sleeper hit among Netflix’s vast documentary library.

Jordan Burtchett (To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before) will star.

Netflix is getting a bunch of streaming debuts next month for various titles, including this recently released drama starring Bel Powley, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jacob Tremblay, and Nesta Cooper.

Roxine Helberg is behind both the script and camera for the film, which covers the story of an ambitious journalism student who is now flying under the wing of a respected reporter. She learns the business isn’t quite as she expected when her supposed mentor cuts corners and manipulates stories.

Crazy Rich Asians (2018)

Coming to Netflix: June 6th

Making its Netflix debut for the very first time is Crazy Rich Asians, the multi-award-winning romantic comedy based on a best selling book. It tells the story of native New Yorker Rachel Chu who flies off to Singapore to meet her new boyfriend’s eccentric family.

Reviews to this day for the film are overwhelmingly positive, with Simran Hans for the Observer having the best pull-quote saying, “Somewhere between My Big Fat Greek Wedding and a Jane Austen novel: meticulous and hilariously alert to social structures, family dynamics, and money, with a plucky underdog heroine.”

Welcome to Marwen (2018)

Coming to Netflix: June 16th

It’s been a few years since Netflix lost The Office in the US, and although many international regions are currently streaming it again, the US hasn’t been so lucky. You did get two seasons of Space Force featuring Carrell, but one of my favorite performances of his post-The Office has been Welcome to Marwen.

Directed by Robert Zemeckis, the movie is inspired by a story about a broken man who loses all his memories. He rebuilds his life and tells his story through his art installation, which uses dolls and action figures.

The Lego Batman Movie (+ The Lego Movie)

Coming to Netflix: June 1st and June 19th

We’re doubling up for our final pick with both of the animated Lego movies from recent years dropping onto your Netflix subscriptions. Produced by Dan Lin, the new head of film at Netflix, these beloved movies bring the bricks everyone has played with at one point or another to life in two hilarious entries that are fun for the entire family.

Argued to be Batman’s most faithful adaptation to date (we’re not kidding), The Lego Batman Movie, in particular, is a visual treat.
